I can’t believe it’s already September! The year is basically over now haha. I love the start of a new month though because I get to set up my bullet journal, duh. So let’s get into my self care September bullet journal set up, and take a look at how August went!
Self Care September Bullet Journal
I saw the hashtag #selfcareseptember on Twitter and it really stuck with me. Of course, I think self care is important every month, but self care September is just catchy obviously. Since I launched my e-course “6 Days of Self Care: A Complete Plan to Nurture Your Mind, Body, and Soul,” on August 31 I figured I might as well keep the theme going and do #selfcareseptember posts for the whole month. Because why not? So today I’m sharing a super easy self care bullet journal page that you can create in your own bullet journal to help you form good self care habits + a few others ideas on how to bullet journal for self care

Executive Hardcover Classic Dotted Pages Notebook: I got this notebook from Amazon. It only cost me $10 and I think its VERY comparable to the Leuchtturn 1917 A5 Notebook which is one of the most popular notebook for bullet journaling. Nothing against it but I didn’t want to spend $20 on a notebook at the time. You can literally use ANY notebook you want. Even a lined one. I like the dotted notebook because it makes drawing easier.
Artists Loft Fundamentals Watercolor Pan Set, 36 Colors: This water color set is from Michaels and I love it. It’s obviously not the best quality water color paint you can find, but for the purpose of the bullet journal it’s perfect.
Mudder Watercolor Brush Pen Water Paintbrush, Assorted Brush Tips, 6 Pieces: This is what I use with the water color set. Just fill the pen with water and squeeze it to release water into the paint. Super easy and convenient to use!
NEW Washi Tape: This roll is from the Recollections brand found at Michael’s Craft Stores.
September Bullet Journal Spreads
Of course, to start off I have my cover page where I get to be artsy, and my brain dump page (that I need to start using). Again, I got the inspiration for the cover page from browsing through Pinterest. I knew I wanted to do a fall theme even though its been around 105 degrees all week in Southern California (so jealous of all you who are experiencing fall weather right now). The cover page is always my favorite part of setting up because my artwork always comes out the best for some reason. I drew the outline of the design with fine tip colored markers, and then filled everything in with watercolor.
The brain dump page is supposed to be a place to write down those random thoughts that you get throughout the day so you can remember them. Basically like a reminders list. I haven’t used it much the past two months so this month I added the hearts to make it prettier in hopes that I’ll actually use it haha.
I bought this washi tape a whole month ago to use for my fall bullet journal set ups so I put some across the top of my brain dump page to add some more color. Plus, I LOVE this particular tape because it says “make today amazing!” How cute is that? The cool thing about washi tape is it adds extra life to your pages without you doing much. Michael’s has TONS of themed rolls like the one I have here.
The Monthly Spread
I went with the super simple monthly spread this time. I have my big calendar, the events list, and then my social media growth tracker. I’ll show you the results of last month’s social media tracking when I get to August! 🙂
I also put the purple hearts on the Thursdays of the month because that’s when you can expect new content on Morning Coffee With Dee!
The Weekly Spreads
September starts out with a two day week of just Friday and Saturday. Therefore, I had to set up “two” weekly spreads to start the month off. So I created this “blogging reminders” page to write down things that I need to remember related to my blog. If you’re a blogger you know that there’s SO much to do all the time, and I always forget things. As you can see I also forget which affiliate networks I’ve joined, and had to write them all down lol. It just helps me to remember to check those websites and see if there are any opportunities available to me.
I also started writing out some self-care activities and goals that I want to focus on for the month. So these are specific activities that I want to make more time for in the month of September! You see where I’m going with this #selfcareseptember thing?
For my second week (which I decided to name week one anyway) I did a really minimal spread. I don’t always use the little extra stuff that I add so I wanted to try and keep it simple this time. That’s the beauty of the bullet journal system though. You can adjust it every single week to fit your needs. It can be as artsy or as minimal as you want it to be. Don’t get caught up comparing your bullet journal to those super fancy ones you see on social media! and if yours is really fancy that’s totally fine too! Your bullet journal is whatever you want it to be.
Self Care Bullet Journal Page
I decided to add this page in for self care September! This is something that could be added to the front of your bullet journal if you’re new to starting one. Because I have no more space in the front I decided to add it here. At the bottom, I included a list of positive affirmations that I can remind myself of everyday! I’ll use the top three sections labeled “mind,” “body,” and “soul” to write down self care activities that I can do to nurture those three aspects of my life. For example, for my “mind” I want to read more and listen to more inspirational podcasts, for my “body” I want to learn to cook more healthy meals, and for my “soul” I want to be creative and pray more. If you sign up for my self care e-mail course you’ll get plenty of other ideas to fill this page with including a cute printable list of positive affirmations!
Other Ideas for Self Care Bullet Journal Pages
- Dedicate an entire page or two to positive affirmations and get as creative as you want with it
- Make a spread titled “What to do when I feel sad/anxious/nervous/stressed etc. (choose the word that best applies to what you struggle with)” and fill in the pages with ideas such as call a friend, watch a funny movie, read a book, listen to happy songs, drink tea, etc.
- Doodle in your bullet journal. Get creative! Avoid making your bullet journal a routine thing where the pages have to be exactly the same every month. It’s OK if things get out of order or you have a random unrelated page someplace (ex. my self care page that I created in the middle of the month)
- Create a “compliments” page and use it to write down and remember the compliments that people give you. Start with this one from me, “you are amazing, and beautiful!”
My August Bullet Journal Spreads
I was all over the place for August. During the last half of the month I was totally consumed by developing my self care e-mail course. That’s why in this last picture you’ll notice I didn’t set up a traditional weekly spread. I kind of liked it though. Lately I feel like I just have this running list of tasks in my head that don’t necessarily have deadlines. So in that case, I don’t really NEED a separate box or list for every day of the week. That’s why I just set up a “goals” list, and a “to do” list so that I could remember all the tasks that I wanted to do from then until the end of the month. If there were any big events during that week, I had them recorded on the monthly spread. So everything was still covered! I’ll probably continue to do spreads similar to this one in the future. See, isn’t the versatility of the bullet journal amazing?
The Blogging Tracker
I was so excited when I filled out the ending numbers for the month on here! I did not even realize that my Instagram grew that much, especially with how difficult it is to grow on Instagram lately. I find twitter much easier to grow with, and it’s so much easier to interact with you all on there! I was recording my wordpress followers, but since I really started my e-mail list at the end of August that’s what I’ll be looking at from now on. Growing this community through my e-mail list is a major goal for September! Thank you so much to all of you who have subscribed already 🙂
Do you include any self care pages in your bullet journal? For me, bullet journaling itself is a self care activity. It’s fun for me because I get to be creative, and I enjoy planning my days out. It gives me a great sense of accomplishment especially when I get to cross things off of my to-do lists. Who’s with me on that?
I hope you guys have an amazing month of September!
